My friend Mary's band Wild Lark had a show on Friday night.
The pub Claddagh was nice the food was good but it was very hard to find. All of the other restaurants in the area (and being Polaris there were about 70 zillion) had big brightly lit 'EAT FOOD HERE' neon signage. The Claddagh not so much, subdued lighting, very tasteful. However I could see the Verizon store next door a mile away I had to be almost on top of the pub before I saw it. That being said, that was really my only complaint about the evening. Once I found the place everything was great.
I arrived shortly after nine to find that the band was already playing and the place was pretty full. Arriving immediately after me was a woman (also wanting to see the band, also alone) that I thought looked familiar. When I was given a very large table for one person I invited her to join me. She turned out to be Mary's old roommate from collage and I've forgotten her name, but she was very nice. Shortly she saw some other people she knew (friends of Mike the guitarist) and they joined us as well.
The company was good, the food was good, and the music was great. Toe-tapping, distract you from the conversation in the middle of your sentence FAN-FREEKING-TASTIC.
GOOD JOB MARY (also Trish, Cathy and Mike)
Mary had a drunken banjo fanboy, who thanked her again and again for being awesome, playing the banjo, being awesome, etc.
Mary also was recovering from the plague and spent the last half of the last set smiling vaguely like 'I don't know who you people are or why I have this banjo but I'll try not to fall down until I figure it out?" I think it was past her bedtime.
It was past mine too, I hadn't planed to stay all the way to the end, because I had to work on Saturday morning, but I kept saying, "well one more song, one more,".
So Wild Lark. Toe-tapping Irish music that will keep you up past your bedtime. I highly recommend seeing them.
